The Chinese drama “Sugar and Lies” is being added to the international catalog of the streaming platform Viki. The production originally premiered in February 2026 on Tencent Video and consists of 24 short-form episodes. The plot follows the reunion of two childhood friends and the development of a plan to deal with a case of split personality.
What is Sugar and Lies about?
On the eve of her engagement, Ding Dang reunites with her first love, Chen Aming, after years of separation. She discovers that her friend suffered trauma caused by a failed scientific experiment, which led to the emergence of a secondary personality named Yu Kun.
To help Chen Aming face his past and overcome his identity split, Ding Dang joins forces with friends to create the “Caramel Plan”. As part of the strategy, she takes on the role of a girlfriend for a limited time, using this temporary relationship to support the protagonist through his recovery process.

Yu Yin as Ding Dang: An independent young woman who creates the “Caramel Plan” to help her childhood friend recover from trauma. She gets close to him under the guise of a temporary girlfriend.
Ke Chun as Chen Aming / Yu Kun: The protagonist lives with two personalities. Chen Aming is the original identity, who preserves memories of their youth. Yu Kun is the secondary personality that emerged after the trauma: a reserved and distant biomedical researcher who has no memory of Ding Dang.
Jiang Yunlin as Zhou Haoran: A loyal friend who helps Ding Dang behind the scenes of the “Caramel Plan” and tries to resolve misunderstandings that arise along the way.
Gan Wangxing as Hu Yitong: A professional actor hired to play Ding Dang’s fake fiancé during the execution of the plan.
The supporting cast also includes Yu Cong, Chen Lanlan, and Xu Lingruo.

With a screenplay by Rao Xueman and directed by Wang Zi, the series was filmed in the city of Rizhao, Shandong. The production is a co-production by Shenzhen Tencent Computer Systems Company Limited and Jiangsu Xueman She Film Industry Co., Ltd., among other companies.
The original broadcast of the 24 episodes, each about 15 minutes long, began on February 21, 2026 on Tencent Video in mainland China. Now, the production is preparing to reach a global audience via Viki.
