When Mimi stepped forward to face René, Taichan and Maru, plenty of viewers thought they knew how the Badly in Love Season 2 finale would end. Her choice told a different story. Mimi said yes to the man who made her feel welcome when she seemed to have the whole house against her.

That surprise was only part of a finale packed with unfinished business. Nine contestants declared their feelings, three couples left together, and several stories shaped by jealousy, arguments and last-minute changes of heart finally reached a conclusion.

In the end, the loudest confession did not always win. What mattered was the connection built during those 14 days under the same roof.

Spoiler warning: This article reveals every couple formed in the Badly in Love Season 2 finale.

Which couples ended up together in the Badly in Love Season 2 finale?

Only three of the nine contestants who confessed their feelings received the answer they wanted. The couples formed in the finale were:

  • Kamaken and Rinrin
  • Ryopi and Sara
  • René and Mimi

Sharan confessed to Taichan, Kahochi chose Kazuma, and Ayacheru opened her heart to Maru, but none of them had their feelings returned. Kazuma also chose Sara, while Taichan and Maru both declared their feelings for Mimi. The rejections hurt, but the episode never treated the ceremony like a cruel contest with winners on one side and losers on the other.

Why did Mimi choose René?

Mimi’s decision makes more sense when we look back at her arrival. She joined the house after the others had already started living together, disrupting a dynamic that felt settled. Suspicion followed almost immediately. René was one of the few people who approached her without constantly asking her to defend or explain herself.

That feeling of acceptance became even more important during their overnight trip. Away from the tension in the house, René showed a more vulnerable side than the one viewers had seen during his confrontations with the other men.

Their chemistry stopped feeling like a possibility and became something Mimi could trust. Around him, she could finally lower her guard.

Taichan also pursued Mimi and was chosen by her for an important conversation late in the season. That moment, however, did not mean she had already decided to build a relationship with him. Maru still appeared to be carrying doubts and unresolved feelings from his connection with Ayacheru.

At the final ceremony, Mimi did not reward the person who tried the hardest or delivered the biggest speech. She chose the relationship that gave her security, intimacy and the feeling of being genuinely seen. René received her “yes” because he had already created that space for her. Taichan and Maru had their declarations turned down.

Taichan left alone, but he did not leave unchanged

After appearing in the first season, Taichan returned determined to handle love differently. He did not get the romantic ending he wanted. He turned Sharan down because his feelings were for Mimi, only to hear “no” when he made his own confession.

What changed was the way he handled it. Taichan was honest with Sharan and refused to offer hope he could not return. He still took the risk of telling Mimi how he felt. After his clashes with René, he was also able to speak to him and accept Mimi’s choice without turning the rejection into resentment.

Taichan did not “graduate” by walking away hand in hand with someone. His progress came from saying what he felt and respecting another person’s decision. For someone who returned to overcome the emotional barriers that had held him back, that may have been the ending he actually needed.

Kamaken and Rinrin chose a fresh start

Kamaken and Rinrin did not follow an obvious path to the finale. Rinrin was still dealing with unresolved feelings for Ryopi, while Kamaken had shown interest in Mimi. Their turning point came when both stopped chasing uncertain possibilities and paid attention to what was developing between them in the present.

Kamaken won Rinrin over through consistency rather than one grand gesture. By accepting his confession, she stopped waiting for a connection that might never move forward and made room for someone who had shown, through smaller moments, that he wanted to be there.

Why did Sara choose Ryopi instead of Kazuma?

Sara arrived at the ceremony with two men ready to confess. Kazuma remained interested until the very end, but devotion alone cannot create chemistry. She chose Ryopi because she felt more at ease with him and trusted the bond they had built while living together.

Ryopi first had to close the door on his story with Rinrin before he could approach Sara wholeheartedly. Their “yes” was quieter than some of the season’s biggest moments, and that was precisely why it felt believable.

They were not forming a couple because the show demanded an ending. They wanted the chance to discover what their relationship could become outside the house.

Are the Badly in Love Season 2 couples still together?

The finale confirms only that Kamaken and Rinrin, Ryopi and Sara, and René and Mimi left the show as couples. It does not prove that those relationships continued after filming. Unless the contestants or Netflix share a public update, anything said about their current love lives would be speculation.

Where to watch the Badly in Love Season 2 finale

Both seasons of Badly in Love are available on Netflix. The Japanese dating show brings together singles with troubled pasts to live under the same roof for 14 days while they decide whether any of those intense connections can become something real.

The Season 2 finale works because it does not pretend every honest confession deserves a happy ending. Mimi chooses the person who gave her peace, Taichan learns to accept an answer he did not want, and three couples leave with a chance — not a promise — to continue their stories away from the cameras.
