Synopsis and details

Mousetrap is a South Korean mystery thriller based on Ludvico’s webtoon of the same name. Its central premise explores identity theft through an adaptation of a traditional legend. The story follows Je Moon Jae, a writer with severe social anxiety. The protagonist’s isolated routine is disrupted when his primary means of identification, including his phone’s fingerprint recognition and electronic passwords, stop working.

The main conflict begins when Moon Jae discovers that an individual with an identical face has taken over his life and legal records under the alias “Mousetrap.” Without documents and unrecognized by the people around him, the writer must leave his isolation behind to prove who he is.

The story expands into a criminal investigation with the arrival of No Ja, a loan shark pursuing Moon Jae over a debt, and Sun Yong, a detective and the protagonist’s former schoolmate assigned to the case. Together, the characters navigate stolen identities, forged records and pursuit.
