This article contains spoilers for the ending of Agent Kim: Reactivated. The final episode establishes the protagonist’s fate after the central conflicts, defines the status of the remaining antagonists, and wraps up the dramatic father-daughter arc.

What happens in the ending

To permanently close the case involving the protagonist, the South and North Korean governments reach an agreement and officially register codename “66” (Agent Kim) as deceased.

Believing her father is dead, Minji visits the columbarium where her parents are honored. During her visit, Agent Kim appears, removes his glasses, and reveals he is alive, promising never to leave her again. With his death faked before the state, the two receive new identities to leave the past behind and start a normal life as a family.

As for the antagonists, Ri Eung-ryung attempts to seek asylum in Macau. However, Agent Kim infiltrates the location disguised as a doctor, captures him, and hands him over to Park Kang-sung. Meanwhile, Joo Hak Construction collapses following leaked corruption scandals, resulting in the arrest of Joo Hye-ri.

Ending Explained: The Meaning of the Finale

The ending of Agent Kim: Reactivated focuses on solidifying the protagonist’s shift in priorities. Coming face-to-face with Park Kang-sung, the man involved in Park Young-kwang’s death, Agent Kim chooses not to exact his revenge. He voices the central premise of the series: protecting loved ones is more important than killing the enemy.

His faked death and the agreement between the two Koreas serve narratively as the only viable way for him to escape the life of espionage. By positioning himself not as a traditional hero, but as a father focused on his family’s safety, the character achieves his primary goal, which from the very beginning was to reunite with Minji.

Fate of the Characters

Agent Kim: Has his death officially registered by the governments to close his case. He assumes a new identity and begins living an anonymous life with his daughter.

Minji: Initially believes her father is dead but reunites with him at the columbarium. She receives a new name to start over safely by his side.

Ri Eung-ryung: Seeks refuge in Macau but is tracked down, captured by Agent Kim, and handed over to Park Kang-sung.

Joo Hye-ri: Ends up imprisoned due to the corruption scandals that bring down Joo Hak Construction.

In the final scene, Agent Kim goes to the Baekho Agency, where he meets director Lee Do-kyu and demonstrates his skills. In the original webtoon story, the Baekho Agency is a fundamental organization for the continuity of the narrative. In the drama, the inclusion of this scene acts as an open ending. Since there is no official confirmation of a second season from the production team, the sequence serves to indicate that, although retired from his previous identity, the character maintains his capability for action.
